Dietetic Internship
Simmons University Dietetic Internship
In the Fall of 2019, in order to build skills as an eating disorder clinician and researcher after earning my master’s, I began my dietetics training in the treatment of eating disorders at Simmons University. In addition to a course on the treatment of eating disorders taught by Marci Evans and Lisa Pearl, I have spent seventeen weeks of my dietetic internship gaining eating disorder treatment experience. I have rotated in many different levels of care including Oliver Pyatt Centers Residential and Partial Hospitalization program (6 weeks), Walden Behavioral Care In-Patient care (5 weeks), and CNC 360 Outpatient care (6 weeks). During these rotations, I performed essential duties of the RD such as team collaboration, grocery outings, process groups before and after meals, initial assessments, weekly check-ins and meal outings. I have also built a strong foundation in clinical dietetics and spent ten weeks at Carney Hospital in Dorchester, providing services for a diverse population and providing staff relief on the Intensive Care Unit and Psychiatric Wards
